BIO

For more than 45 years, Dan O'Rourke has practiced corporate, regulatory and banking law. Mr. O’Rourke has represented financial institutions and their officers and directors, as well investment banks that specialize in financial intermediaries. He helped organize and lead the financial institutions practice groups at McDermott, Will & Emory and at Vedder Price two major international law firms during this period.


Mr. O’Rourke was selected by his peers from 2008 to 2018 for inclusion in the Best Lawyers in America. He was named "Lawyer of the Year" for 2018 by that publications for his expertise in finacial services law. He was also selected or inclusion from 2010 to 2018 in Illinois Super Lawyers and was selected by his peers as a Leading Lawyer in Banking and Financial Institutions Law. Mr. O’Rourke also maintains an "AV Preeminent" Peer Rating in Martindale- Hubbell. His practice includes mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, bank regulatory matters and lending and credit transactions (including swaps).

Having authored more than thirty published articles on the strategic, legal and regulatory affairs of financial institutions and their affiliates, Mr. O’Rourke is also a frequent panelist at industry conferences regarding these issues.

Mr. O’Rourke is active in pro bono matters. His pro bono activities include his representation of individuals seeking to adopt disadvantaged children through the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation, where he recently served as Vice President of Client Services and on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. In recognition of his efforts, Mr. O’Rourke was awarded the CVLS Distinguished Service Award twice-in 2003 and 2004. The Chicago Bar Association honored him for his pro bono efforts in both 1997 and 1998.
